about us

Pastor David Parry

Pastor David Parry was born and raised in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, in the Primitive Methodist Church. The church was an integral part of his life, giving him many opportunities for faith formation and service.

David graduated from Eastern University with a degree in psychology and secondary education. He later received his M.Div. from Southern Baptist
seminary and then a MA in pastoral counseling and a D.Min. degree from Ashland Seminary.

David pastored Faith Community Church in Strongsville, Ohio, for 25 years and then served as a full-time chaplain at Copeland Oaks/Crandall Medical Center (CCRC) Sebring, Ohio, for 18 years. He served as the chaplain for Wesley Village (CCRC), Pittston, Pennsylvania, for two years prior to coming to Messiah Village Church.

During his years of pastoral ministry, David served in a variety of denominational leadership positions and boards.

Doug and Barb Miller

Doug and Barb Miller feel humbled and honored to have been invited to serve as part-time Associate Pastor and Administrative Assistant.

Barb is originally from Chester County, PA, and is trained as a schoolteacher. She homeschooled their five children from K through 12. (They now have eleven grandchildren.) Doug is originally from northern NJ.

Barb and Doug met in Guatemala where they served with the Kekchi Mennonite Church (1980 – 1984). The Lord redirected them into pastoral ministry in the U.S., first at Mercersburg Mennonite Church (1984-1991), and then to a church planting effort in South Jersey (1991-1995). They spent a year in VA while Doug studied at Cornerstone Seminary (1995-1996). Then Doug served as Associate Pastor at Fairview Avenue Brethren in Christ Church in Waynesboro, PA from 1996 to 2000. From there, the Lord called them to serve in church planting among the Yawo in Malawi under Brethren in Christ U.S. World Missions from 2000 to 2024.

They live in New Oxford, PA. They commute to Messiah Village two to three days a week.

What To Expect (I’m new here)

Our services are held at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel located in the Village Center. Most of us arrive early—up to a half hour before the service— to visit with each other. We worship God through singing familiar hymns and choruses, prayer, and engaging Bible-based preaching. We desire that each person who worships with us would develop an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. We love to support both local and worldwide missions by hosting missionaries and representatives and by giving financial support.

Do you love to serve? We offer multiple service opportunities that enhance the life of the congregation and connect you to the bigger picture of caring for others.
